Plastic Free July is upon us! 🌎 ♻️

What better way to kick it off than with a few tips from us all here at GreenJinn?

In case you don’t know, Plastic Free July is a global movement tackling plastic pollution. The movement has 100+ million participants in 190 countries with the aim of having cleaning oceans, streets and communities. You can find out more about the movement by checking out their website here.

So, what do we do here and GreenJinn?

We asked the team for their top tips and here’s what some of them said!

Rob, our co-founder, likes using a reusable water bottle and coffee cup whenever he can.

Karen, working in Business Development, brings reusable containers to restaurants to bring home leftovers.

Laurent, our Head of Marketing, uses toothpaste tablets to avoid buying a new tube every time.

Vince, our Business Development Lead, has stopped using clingfilm and uses reusable lunch bags to store lunch instead.

Alyssa, from our Customer Success Team has been using cloth diapers since her daughter was a newborn.

Some other tips to reduce plastic are:

♻️ Using refillable products such as Wild Deodorant

💄Reusable makeup pads instead of wipes

🐝 Using beeswax instead of cling film

🛒 Taking your own shopping bags to the supermarket

🧑‍🌾 If possible, go to a farmers market to avoid packaging

💦 Avoid buying bottled water

🚮 Pick up litter in public places

🥤 Refuse plastic straws and bring your own reusable one

Plus, it’s important to remember that plastic isn’t ALL as bad as it seems if you are using it correctly.

As long as the plastic is reused and recycled correctly it can be quite good. Why not try creating a bird feeder or a plant watering system out of your old plastic bottles? 🐦 🪴

You need to make sure to recycle and buy the right kind of plastic. PET & 2-HDPE are currently the most recycled plastics.
