This week is Recycle Week 2022 ♻️
So, what is Recycle Week and how can you get involved?
Recycle Week is Recycle Now‘s yearly event to celebrate recycling nationwide. Retailers, brands, waste management companies, trade associations, governments and the media come together to encourage everyone to recycling properly and more often.
The theme of this year’s Recycle Week is ‘Let’s Get Real’ and will challenge people’s perceptions and myths around recycling, and target contamination to improve recycling behaviours 🌍
Better use of resources will contribute to social, economic, and environmental benefits. Between now and 2050, reductions could be as much as 2 billion tonnes in savings.
So, how can you get involved to make sure we reach this goal? Read below for some top tips 👇
Our Recycling Tips
🔋 Batteries placed in bins could start a fire if they are damaged. You can find collection bins for old batteries in shops and offices!
🚮 Any food and drink left inside takeaway boxes and cans will contaminate the recycling process. Empty out any food left in the container and rinse it out to place in a recycling bin!
🛍️ Plastic shopping bags, bubble wrap and plastic film can be recycled at most major supermarkets. Why not also invest in a cute tote bag to avoid the single use plastic altogether.
🎄 Christmas is coming up… we know what that means. Try out the scrunch test; crumple the paper then open your hand, if it stays scrunched it can be recycled!
🥤 These are not accepted in household recycling collection but can be recycled at some high street coffee shops. Take advantage of discounts added by using your own re-usable cup!
💻 Be sure to check everything before you throw it away, more things can be recycled than you think! Never be afraid to google if you aren’t sure.
Remember, every little bit can help!
